Daisy Lewellyn Scholarship Fund Birthday Challenge

The Daisy Lewellyn Endowed Scholarship Fund, is established at Howard University in honor of Lauren "Daisy" Lewellyn, who, prior to her young passing, was a proud Howard Alumna. Daisy greatly valued education and giving back and took seriously her mission of encouraging young people towards higher education, particularly at HBCU's.

January 15, 2019, would have been Daisy's 39th birthday. In honor of her birthday, please support The Birthday Challenge goal of, in the 90 days leading up to her birthday, raising $1000.00 for each of the 39 years since her birth.

In 2002, Daisy graduated from Howard University with a BFA in Fashion Design and Merchandising.  Daisy was loving, funny, vibrant, giving and caring and, at an early age, was bitten by the Fashion Bug.  This was evident when, by the time she entered High School in Southern California, Daisy was personalizing her school uniforms and started a fashion club for like-minded peers called “The Clueless Club.”   During her Jr year at Howard, Daisy completed an exchange program at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology and Interned at Honey Magazine.  Daisy always had big dreams and every day, worked hard to achieve them.

Daisy Lewellyn achieved her dream of becoming a Style Expert, TV Personality, & Author of Never Pay Retail Again: Shop Smart, Spend Less, & Look Your Best Ever (Simon & Schuster). Dubbed The Queen of Effortless Chic, she worked in the industry for over fifteen years and was known for helping women shop with “Champagne Taste on a Sparkling Water Budget”, she performed drab to fab makeovers on top morning shows including Dr. Oz, The Steve Harvey Show, the Today Show, Good Morning America, Wendy Williams, E! News, The Meredith Vieira Show, and more.  In 2014 and 2015, she starred, and was a fan favorite, on the hit Bravo reality show, Blood Sweat and Heels.

Daisy was known for giving other’s a leg up.  She felt a responsibility to give back and had a strong belief in internship and mentorship.  To this end, along with a fellow Howard Alumni, Daisy co-founded DREAM, a mentoring program designed to expose girls aged 13-19 to inspiring careers in Fashion and Entertainment. From its inception in 2005, DREAM mentored over 200 young women.  Affectionately known as DREAM Girls, each young woman was nurtured with a positive sense of self-worth and the encouragement and exposure to turn their passions into rewarding careers, educated on the power of celebrating the achievements of their peers, and offered strategic execution to pursue higher education.

In 2016, at the tender age of 36, Daisy lost her courageous battle with a rare form of liver cancer.  Lauren "Daisy" Lewellyn also dreamed of starting a scholarship at Howard University to support students interested in internship.  The Daisy Lewellyn Endowed Scholarship Fund was established to continue her mission of encouraging  young people to, not only pursue their dreams in the fashion industry, but also to honor Lauren 'Daisy" Lewellyn’s love of others and her spirit of giving.

Though we lost her in April 2016, Daisy remains beloved by her family, friends and fans.  All proceeds from The Birthday Challenge will go to the scholarship established at Howard University.  In 2018, Isley Bolar became the first award recipient.
